InZOI's Upcoming 'Fix' For a Glaring Flaw Sems Love a Band-Aid, Not a Solution

InZOI launched at the end of March in early access. As an early access game with several big updates planned, InZOI launched in a state that was fairly empty and missing key features that would donate it more depth and immersion.

One of the major features that was promised before its launch was the inclusion of lgbtq+ romantic relationships, marriage, and families. Unfortunately, while players could make their control same-sex attracted Zois, all the NPC Zois spawned in-game were heterosexual, making it impossible for players to enter a connection with in-game Zois. While InZOI's June 13 update went a long way to improve this, InZOI still needs some changes to improve its LGBT representation.

If you've felt like your society of Zois is oddly lacking in queer inclusion, you’re not imagining it. It’s real—and Inzoi Studio has now officially known that, yep, gay Zois simply don’t spawn in the wild.

No surprise the topic came up, since inZOI Hits Early Access with Strong Player Numbers and Positive Feedback on Steam — after such a successful public launch, it was only a matter of time before modern-day issues caught up.

While Inzoi technically allows you to create gay characters manually by tweaking their romantic preferences in the character creator, that queerness doesn’t exist naturally in the game's world. The pre-made NPCs—the ones you meet at the coffee shop, run into at events, or flirt with in the park—are hardwired to be straight. That means no gay matchmaking app, no spontaneous same-sex crushes, and no cozy homosexual domestic drama unless you do some setup serve yourself.

The issue was flagged pretty quickly by players, many of whom expected a life sim in 2025 to include, you know, life.

Any simulation is prone to bugs and gaps in immersion, but players stumbled on a adorable prominent one when Inzoi released earlier this week. While you can produce a gay Zoi by tweaking the romantic preferences of any character you create, premade Zois out in the wild appear uninterested in playing for the other team.
In truth, it's impossible for same-sex attracted Zois to spawn, and same-sex relationships are doomed to achieve with them, as the game's acknowledged issues blog acknowledged yesterday.
Granted, it is possible to have gay Zois in your game by manually making a couple already in a relationship, but if you were hoping for your simulated characters to find same-sex like on their own, the technology simply isn't there just yet.
