“Chris was an exceptional man who deeply loved and respected his profession with great old fashion manners, self-deprecating humor and the music of words, Lou Pitt, his manager of 46 years, said in a statement. He was a National Treasure who deeply relished his Canadian roots. Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary being will endure for all generations to come. He will forever be with us.
Survivors also include his daughter, Emmy-winning actress Amanda Plummer.

Plummer, the dashing award-winning Canadian thespian who played Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music, died in advance Friday morning with his wife of 53 years, Elaine Taylor, by his side.
He suffered a head injury after falling, the Modern York Times reports. Plummer is survived by Elaine and his actress daughter, Amanda, from his first of three marriages.
Leading the tributes after his death, his co-star Julie Andrews said in statement: 'I treasure the memories of our work together and all the humour and amusing we shared through the years.
'My heart and condolences go out to his lovely wife Elaine and his daughter Amanda.'
