#8: Natasha’s Men’s Magazine Photoshoot

I am a homosexual man, but Natasha is making me question that in this photo. Hell, I’m not even remotely interested in the guy at the moment because Natasha just looks so damn hot! The way she’s pursing her lips and the way she’s kind of ignoring the guy she’s with in favor of eye contact with the camera is so perfect for a men’s magazine. It lets the men subconsciously accept that the woman is more interested in them than the guy she’s actually with in the photo. Natasha, why must you make me scrutinize my sexuality?

Yesterday I saw a lot of folks sharing out the USA Today article suggesting that James Mattis is “freezing” the transgender disallow in the military, a similar NY Times article picked up that narrative as well. These articles are, unfortunately, misleading.

The policy, per the original executive order, makes that clear.

The bar has three parts, it:

1. Bans (openly) trans individuals from enlisting.
   
2. Prevents the military from paying for gender reassignment surgeries.
3. Directs the Secretary of Defense to complete a study assessing how to deal with active duty trans soldiers by February.

That final section specifically notes, emphasis mine: 

“As part of the implementation plan, the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, shall determine how to mention transgender individuals currently serving in the United States military.  Until the Secretary has made that determination, no action may be taken against such individuals”
