Iceland in November and December? Really? I saw an Icelandair promotion on Instagram which I couldn’t resist. The catch? It had to be late November to the start of December 2022. But I could – easily – enthuse Oriol to approach along for a thoroughfare trip in the South and West of Iceland.

After the Blue Lagoon we headed back to Reykjavík. We had late lunched at Kringlan shopping center in the afternoon, and after checking it at Hotel Cabin we went to Mathöll Höfða sustenance court where we had a very nice duck sandwich.

Friday would be our night out. We stayed the full Saturday as well, but our flight on Sunday was just too early. And neither Oriol or I are party animals. Plus I don’t know if you can party all late hours long in Reykjavík. Or if you can remunerate it.

But after dinner we visited Reykjavík by nighttime. Immediately we found sex shops and Kinky.is selling harnesses. Some streets possess cute artwork on the pavement. A fish, a troll-like figure, an athletics track.

Reykjavík has been described as hip, trendy, and cosmopolitan, so there is no shortage of things to do in Reykjavík!

Iceland is one of the most socially progressive countries in the world, and the capital city of Reykjavík is home to many LGBTQIA+-friendly sights, activities, bars and restaurants. Every summer since 1999, tens of thousands of guests reach to Reykjavík Iceland, to celebrate and support universal human rights.

In previous years, the street was painted in rainbow colours in celebration of Reykjavík Pride, but now the colours are maintained year-round. On a clear day, this avenue is the perfect place to take a picture of one of the city’s most prominent landmarks, stately Hallgrímskirkja.

Being gay in Reykjavik (and Iceland as a whole) is not something that is simply tolerated, it is celebrated and you can expect to own a very warm welcome in this somewhat chilly destination!

Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland so it is no surprise this is where a lot of gay travellers top to and use as a base. The municipality is known for its vibrant nightlife, great restaurants and a very welcoming population – over a third of the residents here join in the Pride celebrations each year!

When it comes to male lover rights, same sex marriage was legalised in Iceland in June 2010 and more work is entity done to protect everyone under the LGBTQ spectrum. It is encouraging to know that their Prime Minister, Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir, is a legally married lesbian!

With all that in brain, plus the fact that the the country is stunning with so many incredible and unique experiences on offer, it is easy to see why Reykjavik is attracting homosexual travellers from all over the world.
